Visit Aguada Fort, a beautifully preserved fort which was constructed in 1612 against the Dutch and the Marathas.? This largest Portuguese bastion in Goa is strategically located at the edge of the river Mandovi. Its 5 metres high and 1.3 metres wide walls still stand strong till date. The fort tells numerous stories of the past world. The most striking feature about the fort is its 13 metre high lighthouse which was built in 1864 as an oil lamp. Later in 1976 it was renovated and given a modern outlook.


For beach lovers, the Candolim Beach here is a blissful retreat. The beach is known for its less crowded shoreline. Candolim Beach is frequented by families, couples and solo travellers seeking some moments of peace. The most enthralling feature of the beach is the ship River Princess which is jammed at the shores here since years.

The Candolim Calangute road close to the beach is ideal to indulge in some shopping as numerous stalls have been set up here selling colourful beachwear, footwear, bags, junk jewellery, etc. One can also have a whale of a time at Goan restaurants dotted around the beach serving freshly prepared sea food.
